Make a shiny badge in photoshop


In this tutorial I will show you once more, how to make a shine object, this time it will be a badge with some great glossy effects.

Well this could seem pretty complex if you are new to photoshop, but I will try to keep it on a low level, if you have trouble following the tutorial, try some of my other more simple tutorials first, related to the subject.

As you can see from the image below I found a nice shape of a badge, from the photoshop custom shapes tab.

Now in the layers panel right click the custom shape layer and choose rasterize layer. Double click the layer to get to the layers styles panel and give it a gradient like the one from below.

Besides the gradient you should give it a drop shadow, and inner shadow and a stroke as shown below.
Play with the settings like I did, the standard settings will work, and change the stoke color to an dark orange.

Now make a new layer above the other layer and type in some text, draw an object which you want it to contain, drop down its opacity to about 50 percent.

Now make a new layer on top and name it reflection, hold down ctrl and click the badge layer to load the selection, and with the selection tool subtract from selection as I did, and fill it with white.

Finally drop its opacity to about 50 percent.
