A cool effect with the feather tool
In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial I will show you how to use the feather tool to make some awesome effects.
1.
First start with a blue background as I did, then make a new layer and we are ready to make the custom selection.
With the elliptical selection tool drag out from the bottom corner so we only see the top part of the selection, then choose the selection mode called subtract from selection and drag as shown below.
2.
Now hold down ctrl and hit backspace to fill the selection with a color, and fill it with white color.
3.
Still holding the selection go to select -> feather and feather the selection about 20 px (depending on the size of your object).
4.
Now go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur and blur it about 3 as shown below.
5.
Now we will give our shape some glow effect.
So go to the layers panel and double click the layer containing the shape we have been working on to go to the layers styles and give it settings as shown below.
6.
And now you can do as I did, copy the layer some times rotate it and place them above each other as shown below.
Tip:
You can also go to edit -> transform -> wrap and drag the handles to reshape it a bit as I did below.
